Born in England, Shihan Michael Walsh emigrated to Canada in 1979 and began his Karate training over twenty-five years ago.  He is Director of NKS Don Mills.

In addition to his 7th Degree Black Belt (All Okinawa Karate-Do Federation, Japan and World Kobudo Federation), Shihan Walsh also holds a Bachelor of Education and Ontario Teaching Certificate.

Shihan Walsh's martial arts background also includes Tai Chi and Kobudo. Having made numerous field trips to Okinawa, he researched and co-authored several magazine articles and edited the text "History and Traditions of Okinawan Martial Arts." Shihan Walsh is the creator of Northern Karate Schools' unique Bully Proof® program.

Additionally, Shihan Walsh has appeared on several television programs and martial arts videotapes, and is a featured performer and lecturer at international seminars.

In addition to his passion for the martial arts, Shihan Walsh is also a devoted husband and father. He is an accomplished musician and, when his busy teaching schedule permits, enjoys a round or two of golf.
